千眼菩提,因表面有很多天然斑点,仿佛有众多的眼睛而得名。其树主要分布在热带及亚热带地区数量非常稀少。以前称为鳄鱼果,后又叫同心果,菩提树有许多别名:沙罗双树、阿摩洛珈、阿里多罗、印度菩提树、黄桷树、思维树、毕钵罗树、觉树,与佛教渊源颇深。
